Well i've never surfed but this year im going to learn big time.
About Me:
I'm looking forward to start to surf among other things this summer but surfing has been something i've been mean to try for a while but i think i would feel more comfortable if someone was there teaching me. I not a slim person but im sure as hell ain't gonna let the weight get in my way besides im only 200lbs. Well im hoping on making new friends around the southern california area like near seal beach, long beach, manhatten beach, and redondo beach im looking forward to meet a bunch of kool peeps and just hangin out . Other then that im a cool laid back chick enjoying life, im in college trying to become the next computer geek lol, love music any kind i play guitar and piano and thats pretty much it I'd like it if someone was just cool enough to hit me up and teach me to surf around my area maybe introduce me to the local around there as well anywho im out peace guys
Ohhhhh I know where it is now. I have family near there lol. Yea, deff lol. I hope to go back and visit this summer actually. Doesn't mean I'll be surfing, but who knows lol.
Yeah on the pricing expect to pay anywhere somewhere between 450 to 500 when you buy factory direct from a shaper like myself or if you go into a shop expect prices to go from 650 to somewhere around 900 dollars. (they mark them up riduculously). Seal Beach is a great spot to learn, nice small rolly waves most of the time. Long beach unforunately has no waves (theres a mile long breakwall that stops anything from coming in). I would reccomend seal beach and as you progress move down to bolsa chica or sunset beach (they each have a similar style wave, but sunset and bolsa chica get waves more often).
If your just starting out, depending on your height/weight/location I would go with a longboard somewhere between 8 and 10 feet (when your just learning the more foam the better, then as you progress you can move down onto something smaller and more manoverable. As far as materials you have polyurethane (most common) and EPS (a little more expensive but a little lighter). I prefer polyurathane. Look for the dimensions to be somewhere around 20 - 23" wide(depending on whats comfortable for you to carry), 2 3/4 - 3 1/4 thick, look for something with a wide nose (around 18") and the tail somewhere in the 14 3/4 to 15" range. Sorry if im getting to technical.
Anyway hopefully I helped a little, and let me know if have any other questions or if your interested in getting a board from me id be more than happy to shape you one (Im running a sale untill the end of summer, 10 percent off).
