I have a friend on the island who was going to go surfing with me. Are there instructors out there? She usually goes to Jones Beach. But we were thinking of trying Robert Moses or Long Beach.

The sharks I read about were in Long Beach in Jersey...guess they are everywhere lol...and I just looked up pics of the Great Whites! oh my gosh!!! scary! Never thought about sharks much until now! better to be aware though right lol...

I read that actually about Long Beach Island...and just looked up info on shark attacks. Although looks like a slim chance...still scary none the less ya know. lol

Where do you surf mostly? I'm in the Jersey area. And my parents are in Brooklyn...and with two kids I hope to get to the beaches here in NY or in Jersey. But I just moved to back to the East Coast and don't know where to go. lol just wing it I guess :)
